Streamlined Life Cycle Assessment for a Range of Furniture Products
In 2022, Task Systems commissioned Blue Marble to conduct a Life Cycle Assessment on twelve of their furniture products including workstations, tables and office chairs.
Task Systems has a long-standing approach to improving sustainability across their operations and had calculated their organisation carbon footprint with the support of Blue Marble in 2021. Increasingly, Task Systems’ clients were asking for LCA data alongside tender documentation.
A range of twelve of Task System’s most popular products was selected to conduct the LCA on. Through efficient modelling Blue Marble was able to create a parameterised LCA model which considered the similarities between the products. The results of the LCA studies identified the carbon ‘hotspots’ and provided Task Systems with the data to make more sustainable choices in terms of product design as well as providing the data needed to meet client requirements.
