Fully supported hybrid service and technology platform to enable and calculate carbon reduction

Much more than a carbon calculator
Reached the limit with a carbon calculator and now you need to make a difference?
The Blue Marble Carbon Action Programme is a people-led hybrid technology solution, built for your quantity surveyors and project managers. It enables sustainable decision making and quantifies the results.
Our platform runs alongside your existing software systems, with data exchanged between the two automatically.
The programme is fully supported by subject matter experts, who can chair focus groups to bring concepts and materials forward from your contractors and staff; making a meaningful difference without compromising on the quality of your product.
The path to lower project emissions
Low Carbon Focus Group
Chaired by Blue Marble, and formed of your inhouse interested parties, this group will inform the recommended low carbon options available in projects.
Approved low carbon options
Maintaining quality of your end product is paramount – only approved low carbon options make it into the options that can be selected in the platform.
You are in control
Carbon savings and further opportunities are displayed in the platform – users can select them based on carbon saving, cost, and product performance.
Measured impact
Carbon calculation features let you know where you are succeeding and quantifies that success. Hotspots are highlighted, so you can direct your attention to achieve the most carbon reduction moving forward.

How does the Carbon Action Programme work?
A surveyor or project manager develops a project schedule as normal, which is automatically pulled into the platform, requiring no additional manual data input.
Potential carbon saving suggestions are displayed for your projects, allowing modifications to the original schedule.
When the job is completed, summary charts are generated to view your carbon progress, and compare no action, actual and minimum carbon reduction paths.
Plus, the carbon calculator creates an overall carbon footprint for each project.

Reporting on emissions
An admin user can view the overall carbon reduction progress across all projects, contractors and customers.
Example views available:
- Overview
- Carbon cost per customer (e.g. insurance or building company)
- Carbon cost per contractor
- Carbon cost per project
Depending on your existing system, it may also be possible to return this data to your surveying software.
The role of Blue Marble's Footprinting Team
To develop the footprint of materials and activities
Via databases, existing EPDs and in collaboration with suppliers, we calculate the carbon value for general tasks and add them to the platform. Low carbon options are calculated and linked to an existing line item to allow comparison between options.
Ongoing management and carbon data additions
The Footprinting Team will maintain the tasks whenever there are updates to databases, new general products used, and new low carbon products and services available to recommend.
Integrate carbon data with the Carbon Action Programme
Blue Marble’s Footprinting Team will also manage the integration with the Carbon Action Platform, so you are always able to produce and display accurate carbon data.

Reporting is quick and effective, not just on the carbon cost of your activities and materials, but also on the reductions you have made over the project. This is important for SBTi type Green House Gas (GHG) Programmes.
- Do my customers want to hear about greener options?
-
The construction industry is responsible for 37% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions. As such, many in the industry are taking action to become more sustainable, including setting their own Net Zero targets. You can support your customers’ Net Zero ambitions by providing them with carbon footprint data, and calculating opportunities for them to be more sustainable. Our platform does the heavy lifting so you won’t need to run those calculations yourself, and the sustainable opportunities are easy to identify.
