An EPD to highlight the benefits of alternatives to traditional building materials
Cem-Rock® is a family of eco-friendly, lightweight, high-strength magnesium oxide boards with safer, easier, and faster application in comparison to traditional building boards.
In 2023, Greenspan System Sales Ireland Ltd. commissioned Blue Marble to conduct a life cycle assessment and produce an Environmental Product Declaration on the Cem-Rock® eXtreme board.
The EPD was produced in accordance with EN 15804+A2 and verified in accordance with ISO 14025. Blue Marble responded to requests to account for the range of board thicknesses in a single EPD document through use of a linear scaling table.
The Cem-Rock® eXtreme EPD is a good example of manufacturers of non-traditional building materials using EPDs to highlight the benefits of new and novel building materials in an industry increasingly focused on sustainability.
