Phase I & II of University, Council and Government Carbon Champions Project
Blue Marble is pleased to announce the completion of Phase I & II of the Carbon Champions Project. We were selected as an expert consultant for the South Ayrshire Project, funded by the UK Government.
The project was administrated by the University of the West of Scotland in partnership with South Ayrshire Council, and provided fully funded consultancy and training to Ayrshire based organisations. We were delighted to be part of this scheme, with a focus on business-friendly climate action. We understand how reducing emissions can lower an organisation’s operational costs, attract new customers, increase job satisfaction for the workforce, and are pleased to pass on practical measures to achieve this.
The project was split into three distinct activities to achieve its aims:
- Auditing and Guidance,
- Workshops and Training
- Network and Engagements – with entry to the national Carbon Champions Network.
Blue Marble worked with members of a wide range of industry sectors – from architecture and the arts, through to agriculture. Training was provided to appointed company representatives and baseline carbon footprints were established. Beyond this was a process to identify hotspots and opportunities for a successful net zero transition.
One company was selected by the programme to undertake an additional product Life Cycle Assessment, based on the innovative nature of the manufacturing process and potential carbon efficiencies over competitors. You can read more about this innovative project and the LCA process here.
